Northwood Animal Hospital

Writing this review is incredibly difficult because Northwood Animal Hospital is where we took Willow for what was supposed to be a relatively routine procedure to remove a small tumor. Instead, we came home without our dog. Before the procedure, my husband specifically expressed that he did not want to leave until Willow was under anesthesia. We were told that she was asleep, so we left believing she was safely under and being cared for. Less than 15 minutes later, my husband received the call that Willow was gone. During the procedure, we were informed that Willow experienced serious breathing difficulties and that her condition rapidly deteriorated. What has made this experience even more upsetting is everything we learned afterward. Based on conversations and information provided to us, I was left with serious and deeply troubling questions about how Willow’s emergency was handled, including the airway difficulties, the timing of anesthesia, and the response when her condition became critical. The more information we received, the harder it became to understand how a dog who went in for a small tumor removal never came home. As Willow’s family, we trusted this hospital with her life. That trust was shattered. One interaction that particularly stayed with us was being asked multiple times whether we planned to sue. In the middle of grieving and trying to understand what had happened to Willow, that question felt deeply upsetting and inappropriate to us. Rather than helping answer the questions we had about our dog’s death, we were left feeling even more uncomfortable and unsettled by the conversation. I am sharing my personal experience and the information that was communicated to me. I cannot speak to anyone’s intentions, but I can say that I have serious concerns about the care Willow received and the way the emergency was handled. What was equally heartbreaking was the lack of compassion we felt surrounding the loss of our dog. Losing a pet unexpectedly during a procedure is traumatic enough. Feeling like you are left with unanswered questions afterward makes it even worse. I would never trust Northwood Animal Hospital with one of my animals again. Every pet owner has to make their own decision, but I strongly encourage anyone considering this hospital to ask detailed questions about surgical procedures, anesthesia, emergency protocols, and exactly how complications are handled. Willow was not just a patient or a procedure on a schedule. She was our family. My husband specifically asked not to leave until she was safely asleep. We were told she was. Less than 15 minutes later, we were told she was gone. We dropped off a dog we loved and trusted them to care for her. We came home without her. That is something we will never forget.

Stay away from this place. In my opinion they prioritize profit over care. They FORCE you to do certain treatments or else they refuse care. Do not let them do a dental cleaning on your animal! They will extract teeth that do not need to be extracted and theyll do it without even asking you first.

They really care about helping and giving the best attention to me and my babies. Thank you!!!

Was disappointed customer service was under whelming. Called early that week and needed flea and tic meds for my dog. They said time for a well check. I made an appointment for later that week. After the appointment they said they were out of the flea and tic meds for my size dog. I would half to order from store website. I was pretty disappointed. I got a text from the vets office and sent me a text for the meds but sent me the wrong amount. I called and she said that it was impossible to get the Rx from my text that they send it through the email and wanted to argue that the only way they send it is email. Anyway she sent the Rx again and sent the wrong Rx. I called again and she finally sent the right Rx. I went to the online store and discovered you would have to pay and extra 13.00 to 15.00 extra if I wanted it shipped right away. Crazy that they would be out of flea meds especially in the summertime. This a big inconvenience to me , so I'll be finding another vet.
